OK. We are now at zero hour. It’s very close to Passover Seder. And let’s say you want to put on some kind of Seder - and you have planned nothing yet. Is it possible to pull one together?
YES you can!
Start by getting our “Celebrate Passover: How to Plan a Fun, Simple Seder” – available for immediate download for just $3.99. Just click here.
This Week’s Tip - Focus on the Essentials Only
Even at the last minute, you can create a Passover Seder. It doesn’t need to look or feel like a multi-hour Seder you might have attended in the past. And it doesn’t need to look or feel like anyone else’s Seder. In fact, it just needs to be right for you.
So what will you do for a Haggadah - the telling of the Exodus? You can find many downloadable options. Want something super short? Download the 10-Minute Seder.
But while it incorporates all the “got to include” parts, it’s not very kid-friendly. Another option is Sammy Spider’s First Haggadah which is available on Kindle - and written with little ones in mind.
But how about something even easier than that? Celebrate Passover includes a description of the 15 Seder steps. If ALL you do is read through those with your children, and do what action is suggested, you will feel so much happier than if you skip this year. OR go through the “3 Core Concepts” for young kids - “What’s Different?” + “Foods As Symbols” + “Telling Stories.” Choose one or two from each list to discuss, depending on how old the children are. And do light the candles! I have photos of our grandchildren’s faces when they see (and now help with) lighting the candles. There is a sense of awe and beauty that can be the heart of what you do.
Now that you have a plan for the flow of the evening, look at our Seder Shopping List in the “Celebrate Passover” e-book and see what you need to buy that you don’t already have.
Second, look at the list of What to Cook Ahead. Truly, unless you’ve having a crowd, if you HAVE to condense everything into a day, you CAN do it. (My husband and I have done it!)
Third, check out the “Setting the Seder Table” checklist. It will save you so much time!
What about dinner? What would you do for dinner if it weren’t Seder? If you can pick up a cooked chicken and some sides, go for it. If you have that with matzah, it IS a Seder dinner. If your store has some macaroons, you’re in the holiday spirit.
Passover Seder Steps Follow-Along – Digital Version
Then, to add the kind of interactivity that transforms the Seder into an engaging experience for kids from 3 – 9, add big fun with our Passover Seder Steps Follow-Along game - and scroll down to the downloadable version.
The downloadable version is only $3.99 and allows you to make copies for everyone at your table.
And if your child follows along this pathway, she will begin to understand the concept of the journey that is the Exodus story.
